Simply put Reiki is the combination of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki, that mean Universal Energy and Life. The practice of Reiki is the use of this Universal Life Energy to balance, heal, treat, relax, align.
I first discovered Reiki in college when I first started to really explore all those started exploring what was then called "New Age". But I never really went deeper than an understanding that Reiki dealt with Chakras and Energy. That is until much later when, after years of it floating in and out of my life in various ways, I had my very first Reiki Session. And frankly, it changed me.
No, it wasn't like some psychadelic trip. It was relaxing, it was subltle, it was quiet. And I guess to say it changed me isn't exactly accurate. What it did is help me truly feel ME. I walked out of that room feeling more like me than I have ever felt. It was like something opened and the clutter was removed and my path, my journey was so very clear.
Something did open and clutter was removed. My Chakras were tended in a conscious and deliberate way for the first time. The flow of my Ki, my energy, was opened; made free to move and reach all the necessary places. The clutter of blocked energy, stagnant chakras (wheels of energy), and overstimulated spots were cleared, balanced and aligned. My energy became secure and balanced, which allowed my psyche, my mind, my body, my soul, ME to feel secure and balanced. All of that is intertwined and interconnected, after all.
So what is this magical practice of Reiki, you ask?
It is an ancient Japanese practice or method of using energy to bring balance, to heal, and to support. Various of forms of this practice can be found in many cultures throughout the centuries. Reiki has its roots in Japan with a man named Mikao Usui.
The Reiki practitioner channels the Life Force Energy (I like to think of the practitioner as a funnel for the energy) through the hands. The person receiving the Reiki may feel heat from the practitioner's hands, may experience slight internal sensations, may see visions or colors (I had an experience where the practitioner and I heard the same song lyrics). What is happening is that through the channel or funnel of the practitioner, the energy is able to move through and to the chakras, or wheels of energy, and is then able to balance, align, and open these wheels allowing energy to flow naturally and freely.
This is all done through a series of hand positions. Generally, the practitioner hovers hands just slightly above the client, allowing the energy to flow. Each hand position, starting at the crown and moving down to the feet, "speaks" to a different chakra. Since we are holisitc beings, meaning each aspect of us (physical, mental or psyche, and spirit or soul) is interconnected and interdependent upon the other, each chakra's energy flow affects the others in one way or another. Regular Reiki sessions allows our internal energies to hum together while doing its individual "thing". These sessions usually last about an hour or so and leave you feeling, well the best way I can describe it is more YOU.
Since I started regular Reiki sessions, I have experienced major improvements in my sleep (something I have struggled with since birth), my anxiety levels have lowered dramatically, my thinking is clearer, my confidence is stronger, and I just feel all around much more grounded and just plain ol' good!
This has been just a game changer for me that I decided to become a Reiki practitioner so that I can offer this gift to others. I truly want each and every person to have the opportunity to experience this gift. What was so cool about doing my Reiki Training is that this gift is transferred from a Reiki Master, in my case Camile Bird, to student and has left me feeling forever connected to her. I feel honored she gave me her time and shared her knowledge with me. I feel blessed to know her and to have this connection.
I am excited to now offer Reiki Session as part of Robin's Egg Essentials. I want to invite each of you to schedule a session with me and experience this with me. I really can't wait to share it with you. If you would like to know more about this, just ask some questions. You can email or call and I'll be happy to share what I know.
